It was Sunday, 26th of October 2008. We’re so worried that the street children wouldn’t come on time. But, here we go, 9 am and they were all there, at E Plaza. 100 street children who usually standing under the traffic light, singing songs they don’t really understand, caring the younger on their back and begging for money. Huufff…
I remember one day, I made a dream book. I put pictures of very happy children singing with red uniform. Their smile, those big grin, are brighten up the world. And by the next page, I put other pictures, street children reading on a library. They wear no uniform, just dirty clothes.
And I keep those pictures in my mind, that one day I’ll do something for them. I want to move those unhappy and poor children onto the next stage. Become happy, healthy and smart children. Singing their song, dare to dream and prove it. I don’t know how yet, but I will.
So this is one of my dream come true. I was there on that cloudy Sunday, watching Laskar Pelangi movie with those 100 street children, hoping that Andrea Hirata’s true story will inspire them not to give up, to live for giving as much as they can, and not just receiving what other gave them.
And I believe that this isn’t my only dream. Many people would help and just don’t know how.
Thank God I have lot of friends, partner and colleagues who share the same feeling and willing. So that we can make our dream become reality. Thanks to all FeMale crew, sponsors: Loggo who gave the children shoes, Bank Agro, XL, Wacoal, Ayam Bakar Kendil, Yudi of loenpia.net for photographing, Setara for managing the childrean, the press: Suara Merdeka, Sindo, Wawasan, Cempaka, Bisnis Indonesia, Radar, Kompas.
Now, what’s the next dream?
